Norton - Getting Greedy? |
Norton has been protecting computers for years, And with the threat of a virus destroying your computer is enough to make you want to buy this product. But I think now Norton is being very greedy with the ever-higher price of protecting your computer from viruses!Even though I think this product is very good, its not worth the extra £10.00 by purchasing the pro Version. Stick to the Standard version, its all you will ever need. Especially when you think about the thousands of computers out there with no protection at all!

Highly recommended - “Pro” version is worth the extra £10 |
I have been happily running Norton Internet Security 2001 & SystemWorks 2001 for almost 4 years now, but have recently been getting “blue screen” errors related to firewalls. I reinstalled all Norton software & it worked for a while, but then relapsed. I decided it was time to upgrade.I had to uninstall NIS 2001 before I could install the new one (for NIS 2002 or 2003 you can install it over the top). Following installation I downloaded all updates which included any program bug fixes. A full system scan was then performed and everything was okay. I then installed SystemWorks 2004 Pro, downloaded all updates and performed a system scan which fixed all Windows errors. I have heard of installation problems & “product activation” issues on some Symantec products (this software has to be activated online using a software “key”). However, it all ran very smoothly. I cannot say the same for the standard (non PRO) version. I am happy to say I have had no “blue screens” since! 5 stars.

NIS Pro 2004 |
I have always used NIS, but was a bit apprehensive when I saw some of the reviews below. The instillation went (relatively!) smoothly, apart from the usual hiccup, when I had to re-install the anti-virus part of the program. (This happens every time I get a new version of this - can never work out why!) I can definitely say I have not seen a drop in speed or performance of my computer, and it picked up the adware and spyware on my computer.A friend of mine had the normal version of NIS 2004, and Ive noticed that you have to uninstall any previous versions before installing that, whilst with the pro version you can just install over the top as usual. I wonder if this has caused the problems that other people have experienced. NIS 2004 only gets 4 stars because of the usual problem in installation!
